DAY 1
Pyramiden, Pyramiden, set at the foot of a towering mountain, was founded in 1911 and named after its majestic surroundings. Coal production began in 1956, and by the 1970s-80s, it thrived as a model socialist town. Preserved since 1998, its Soviet-era infrastructure offers a rare glimpse into the past. Today, Pyramiden is a growing tourist destination, with renovated facilities like a hotel, restaurant, and cinema theater. The Nordenskiöld, part of the Lomonosov Plateau, is a formidable ice wall stretching approximately 25 km in length and 11 km in width. |
