Svalbard's polar night lasts from November until mid-February, when the archipelago lies in deep darkness, and our tours are temporarily paused. During this period, the snow cover isn’t sufficient for snowmobile travel, and the lack of daylight makes exploring challenging.
Our winter tours start in mid-February, as the magical blåtiden emerges and daylight returns. From then until the first week of May, we offer
1-day tours to Barentsburg, Grumant & Colesbay, and Tempelfjorden. For those seeking extended adventures, we offer the
3-Day Boundless Arctic Tour, perfect for exploring the western part of the archipelago and the Greenland Sea, and the
2-Day Dog Sledding Tour, ideal for a unique dog sledding experience.
If you’re eager to visit the remote settlement of Pyramiden, tours begin no earlier than mid-March, once the snow and ice have fully stabilized. For this destination, we recommend planning ahead. Our
3-Day Arctic Time Machine Tour ensures you have enough time to fully explore Pyramiden without feeling rushed, as the journey from Longyearbyen takes about 5–6 hours by snowmobile.
April is the perfect time to join our
7-Day Next to the North Pole tour, a comprehensive package that takes you to the most iconic spots on the archipelago, ensuring you experience Svalbard to its fullest.
Please note that we stop running tours by the second week of May and strongly advise against visiting during this time. The weather is highly unpredictable, and you may end up seeing very little as the snow melts and the landscape transitions to
summer.
